Evans - cancelled my order?

I've just had an order I placed yesterday with Evans cancelled with just this strange message:
Thank you for choosing to purchase from Evans. Here at Evans, we take the security of our customers very seriously and to protect it we routinely check for anything that gives us cause for concern. As a result, unfortunately we have had to cancel your order (no. ).
You have not been charged for this order, but if you think we've made an error, we're more than happy to discuss this with you. To talk to a member of the evans Customer Services team, please call us on 0844 984 0262 (UK only).
I used a code I had been sent in one of Evans own mailouts plus their 2 day 20% off (one of which didn't seem to work). The order was acknowledged but then this evening has been cancelled. As you can see from their message, I can talk to them if I want to use an 0844 number - don't think I'll bother... this has left a nasty taste - I don't like the tone of their email at all. I don't really want to deal with Evans any more now.
Has anyone else had this happen? It would be interesting to know how much this has happened- especially as they were having a 20% off sale- perhaps too many people were taking advantage of it?

Why a nasty taste ?
You know you can use what is known as google to find a number that could be cheaper to call than the 0844.0 -
I had a similar thing with black circles a few weeks back. Turns out it was my credit card provider that blocked the transaction as their computer thought the transaction was dodgy. I had to phone up to sort it out - they were very good about it and called me back so I didn't rack up a phone bill.
I've never had any problems with Evans before - why not give them a call and let them try and sort it out. I'm sure they'll call you back too.0 -
often things like this are down to the address the order is to be sent too. Its worth phoning up just to see why there is a problem. Evans don't cancel orders for the sake of it so its worth asking what they have on their system that says this order is fraudulentThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. I use https://www.saynoto0870.com and it came up with this number for you.
020 7788 9800
It might be something really simple.

Evans sent this e mail out a while back when peeps used some lucrative codes.
Either that or they say the items are out of stock when they are not.
Heaven forbid they would tell the truth and say they dont want more than one code used.
Dont worry about it.0 -
Sounds like they dont want to give you any discount and used a lame excuse ('security') to cancel the order
They dont have to full fill any order - but i know the feeling - just wish they would come right out and say it "our discount codes are just a lot of hot air to make us appear like big boys - but we only give discount to people that are never going to use it - as such you can stuff your order until you agree to pay fullllllllllllllll price"When will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?0 -

Yes, I'm afraid I think that's my opinion - I suppose I should make the effort to call them ...0 -
As an update:-
I rang Evans this morning on the number found by Cherie1122 (thanks!) and was kept hanging on listening to music and recorded messages for over 7 minutes, but the reason why my order was cancelled is "a system error" and I was invited to "just re-order", but I explained that I had used a code and made use of the 20% off offer and so probably wouldn't - I was then told that the original price would be honoured, but I would have to order then contact them and get a credit put on my card. I told them I don't think I'll bother.
7 minutes hanging on the phone listening to carp music and repeated messages is enough for me!
Poor customer service like that is enough for me to vote with my feet. I'm done with Evans - more people should do the same, perhaps we'd all get better service then.0
