Via 18185, calls to Cyprus are only 4p connection + 1p/minute from a BT landline anyway.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

If they have inclusive minutes with BT which they definitely will at weekends they can call Cyprus for half a pence a minute, no connection charge via a uk access number. http://www.localphone.com/call/cyprus0 -
thanks, I don't understand these landline contracts..... so is BT still a good deal? my parents don't have any type of contract per say, just pay every 3 months, it averages out to be £75.
13.25 x 3 = £39.75 which to me sound good, unless if there is something i am missing?ewwwww what is that...0 -
If they have a service with BT then they have a contract, however it is billed. The question is whether it is still in minimum term or not.
BT is rarely a good deal, they're one of the most expensive providers around. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Unlike most providers, with post office you can suck it and see.
There is no minimum period, so you can have a risk free trial with them, and move on/back if you don't like them.
Apart from free international calls at the w/e they also give you free calls to uk mobiles over the weekend too. (Their evening free calls starts at 6.00 pm too)0 -
yep a lot of plus point with post office.... might actually go for it!ewwwww what is that...0

Basic PO package includes line rental, evening and weekend landline calls + calls to mobiles and many international destinations at weekends - costs £12.25 per month at present but £13.25 from 21 May. Minimum call charge outside package is almost 15p (9.6p connection plus 5.36p per minute) - after 21 May will be 19.5p (connection charge increased to 12p plus 7.5p per minute) - mobile calls will be lower per minute (but still with increased connection charge).Anytime package (UK landlines only + 0870 / 0845) available next month at an extra £4.50 pm.0

Can't do much about the £1 rental increase, but you don't have to pay the increase in call charges and connection charges for daytime calls! (Use an override provider who gives you free calls, with just a 5p connection charge to pay)
