Which forces charity to support?

It's my husband's 50th birthday in June and after his 40th party we were inundated with bottles of wine and spirits that people generously gave as presents.
Rather than the same happen this time I would like to suggest donations in lieu of gifts to support a forces charity, as we have a number of friends with sons in the military.
I am aware of Help for Heroes and the British Legion but I would like to support a lesser known one as well. I would be grateful for any suggestions.

Nice gesture OP - have you thought of Combat Stress, they do very good work and can be overlookedYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0

Hi there,
Lovely gesture that I'm sure the receiving charities will be very grateful for. We have lots of Service charities listed here if it helps: http://www.aff.org.uk/useful_links/service_charities_.htm"Official Organisation Representative

It's probably a bit late now, but just another one to add to the list, in case any one is looking in the future!
Hounds for heroes is a great charity that provides assistance dogs to people injured in the line of duty.

Do you have personal or famil connections with any of the forces? If so, why not give to the relevant single service or regimental charity?
Personally, in addition to RBL, SSAFA, BLESMA etc, I would always suggest Blind Veterans UK (they used to be known as St Dunstan's).
Happy 50th to your hubby by the way....0
