Sharp Practise at ASDA Home Delivery

Anyone who uses ASDA home delivery shopping should check what they're getting. I have noticed that when ordering things by weight (veg and meat etc) there is a tendency to deliver more than ordered by 50% - 100%. Obviously this is going to cost as well as leading to waste.
I've put in a complaint and am awaiting a response.

When they've done that to me I've rung customer services and said that i've been given more than I wanted and paid £x more than I wanted to pay and they've refunded the difference and i get to keep the extra for free!0

If they substitute, don't they match the price of the original item ordered?0
-
Yes but the items haven't been substituted. I think what the OP means is that you order 150g ham and get sent 250g ham which obviously costs more.
Yes - thats exactly what I meant.
Also, when they substitute they sometimes charge you the full amount of the substituted item. I ordered a small bottle of red wine (18cL) for cooking and they gave me the full size version as a substitution at 3 times the price.0 -
So ASDA have got back to me stating that "it is very difficult to pick loose items to the correct weight". I say this is nonsense - bunch of ripoff merchants.0

Try ringing the helpline number at the top of your grocery order and say what you were expecting to pay and how you're upset that it comes to more, as they sent more weight than you wanted. Then they should refund the difference - they always have with me. HTH x0

? Eh? They don't have scales? Or they can't add up?0 -
It is possibly not being done on purpose, years ago when I used to work there, there was very often 2 people involved in the order, one would go out to the shopfloor with scales and pick the loose fruit & veg and sticker it up and take it to a back-up chiller, where someone else would later put it into the orders. And I admit that on occasion, when rushed, I would pick out the wrong weight bag scan it, pop it into the order and not notice it was wrong until I got to another customer who'd ordered the same thing and the weight would be way out. I hope I noticed whenever I did it and rectified it, but I know some people may not of noticed they had done it.0

Can you disable substitutions?
This is probably the way forward tbh, at least you then know the price can only go down.0 -
