Any gold experts out there?

I have an old pair of earings which were my Nan's to sell. I'm pretty sure that they are 9ct gold as I've cleaned them with a gold/silver cleaning cloth and it went black and the earings have come up nicely. The only problem is that they have 2 weird hallmarks on one of the earings instead of the usual 9CT one. It has Germany and K&L engraved on it. I think they must be at least 30 years old and I know that my Nan always seem to wear them. Any ideas?
Thanks

If they are german then they may be more likely to be 14ct , K&L will be the makers mark, they dont have to stamp for gold quality abroad (i believe)
If you take them to a independant jewellers they tend to have someone who can give a verbal valuation right up to an insurance one. It will cost normally from around a £5
