    I doubt you'll get a debit card for a 7-year old, but you can get an ATM card with the Halifax Young Saver account.

    (The same is also true of the Lloyds TSB version, but you - the parent - have to bank with Lloyds for them to get that).

    Each to their own - but is your child not going to have enough years of worrying about money in the future. What's wrong with the pass book or a re-loadable gift card?
