I never use the recommended amount on washing liquid. I did an experiment with a bottle of Persil Small and Mighty 28 wash. What I did was to put a small dot using a perm marker pen on the side everytime I did a wash. I do 11 wash loads a fortnight - as I change my duvet and wash that on its own every fortnight. 28 washes would have lasted me about 5 weeks. It took me 2.5 months to use it and all my clothes were clean. So effectively, I doubled the number of wash loads.
Even when I used tablets - I put one in as it still foamed a lot.0 -
Method & Ecover do refills. Ecover often can be bought in bulk (in what ever quantity you need) from health food shops.

hi
my dh , ds and dd all have sensitive skin so i can only use daz, fairy or aerial i got an 85 wash daz powder from b&m the other day for £14 which i thought was a bargain.
xx
actually thats expensive in comparsion
my mum used to buy Daz, and my brother still does, I know because i buy it for him, when its on offer and store it.
38 wash for £4 which would work out at 114 for £12. it used to be 42 wash but i guess they changed the size of the boxes.
bought at tesco's when on offer.
so £2 saving and 29 more washes.
tesco's do the offer it seems about once every 4 months.
currently the offer is exactly the same as you paid. 85 wash for £14 which lasts according to the webpage 31/12/2012

I use bold washing gels.
Have no idea how much per load but I only buy them at half price of less, and they're on offer fairly regularly, plus always cheaper in home bargains.
The laundry gloop thing is a revelation to me. I think I am going to try it. Does it keep indefinitely?
Only problem I have is an OH who is very brand brainwashed. He truly believes that branded products are superior and doesn't seem to have the ability to differentiate between marketing techniques and the truth.
So...I will probably come up against it if I try and make my own (this is even though I do all the washing, he will still have to put his 2p in) :mad:0 -
I noticed that Which? rated Aldi's Almat stain-lift powder as the best in a recent testing against all the big names in washing detergents. It was also the cheapest at just 11p per wash.
Only reason I found this out was via a free two-month trial of Which?, so I thought it might be a useful piece of info for all you MSE members out there!:j0 -
