Advice re home phone landlines

Options
Hi All,

I live in a shared house and we have a BT landline with one phone socket which my friend uses for work. I now need to install another new line with a new, completely different phone number for my own work. How do i go about this and what is the cheapest way to do it. Work will pay for it but they have asked me source the cheapest way!!!

Many thanks

Just phone whichever provider you want to use and order a new line.

Charges vary (BT is the most expensive @ £130).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

You'll probably get a better discount deal if you transfer your broadband onto the new line, so sign up to a line rental/calls/broadband bundle. And of course use a cashback site.
Do an exchange search on https://www.samknows.com to find the cheapest LLU deals on your exchange.
