Hi all
Unfortunately I had an accident with my car just before my insurance was due for insurance. Now from £19 per month, new renewal is quoting me £30 per month.I have been driving for last 5 years and had no claims bonus.
Is there any other way I can reduce my insurance premiums. Please help find me cheapest insurance for people with 1 claim and 2 years no claim bonus.
thanks

Hello Debtblue
I've just taken insurance with Privilege. I saved over £100 on my renewal quote and got £40 cashback through Rpoints. I've got two 'none fault' accidents in the last three years and still got a good price.
https://www.confused.com is also very useful as it will do a lot of leg work for you.

was your no claims bonus protected? and was the accident your fault?
if you didn't have no claims bonus protection and it was your fault, then check your renewal documents, as i would guess you will no longer have no-claims bonus.
if you did have ncb protection, then you still have to declare the accident, but it shouldn't affect it too much
if the accident wasn't your fault then it also shouldn't affect the premiums that much
once you've got the best quote on confused, com, check around the various cashback sites. Rpoints is one, but quidco I think on average pay out more so that may help you.
screentrade.co.uk are a broker but in my experience they don't cover the best insurers (for me) but worth looking at as you can get £120 cashback through quidco.
Also if you are paying monthly, have you considered getting a 0% on purchases credit card instead and paying for it that way?Indecision is the key to flexibility

There's no clear answer as to what is cheapest for you I'm afraid.
What you can do is follow Martin's tips for getting the cheapest insurance: basically get quotes from Moneysupermarkethttp://www.moneysupermarket.com/insurance, Confused.com and CompareTheMarket (whose quote engine is suspiciously similar to Budget's).
In addition, I would add that you should look at Tesco and Quinn Direct.
Once you have the best quotes (within £100 or so of each other) look at which will give you the best cashback through Quidco. That could shave off another £40 or thereabouts.Debt at highest: September 2003 - £26,350
