Pixmainia Issue

Hi,
Not sure if this is in the right section, apologies if not.
Some advice please. Rather than write a full essay I'll put it down in a time line because it confuses me too!
Aug 2009 :
I purchased a home cinema system from Pixmainia. I paid on my credit card. The goods arrived after a week.
Apr 2010 :
Received an email from Pixmainia stating that I hadn't paid and needed to pay them! I thought this must have been a joke so ignored it.
Aug 2010 :
Whilst I was away with the RAF in the Falklands my wife received a letter from a french debt collection agency trying to recover the debt. She explained I was away and I would deal with it when I retuerned.
Sep 2010 :
I called them and offered to pay. They told me that they would only accept a bank transfer. I stated that I I originally (or so I thought) paid by card because I didn't have the full amount spare and this was still the case. The customer services woman said she would need to speak with someone and get back to me......
This week (April 2012) :
Received a phone call and email as a final demand!!!
Any ideas, help on this would be greatly welcomed.
Thanks in advace,
Dylan

There seems to be a big gap between September 2010 and April 2012.
Anything happen during that year and a half?0 -
If you didn't pay, you legally owe them the debt.
They have 6 years to recover debt, you should of been proactive in sorting it out over the last 3 years.0 -
Nothing between 2010 and now. I offered to pay and didnt hear anyting. How did I ever get the goods if the payment failed?0

You seem to be suggesting that you did pay at the time of purchase. How did I ever get the goods if the payment failed?
This is crucial.
As said earlier, if you haven't paid then you still owe the money.
If they made a mistake and sent the goods without you paying, then you still owe the money but could be in a position to bargain on payment terms.
Against that you could've perhaps been a bit more proactive in your approach to this issue.0 -
cant you contact your card issues to see if the payment went from your account ?This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
