Hi eveyone,
I am having an extension done and a new kitchen to be installed. The builder has just informed me that the electricians have quoted in the region of 2.3k for the following
10 double sockets
10 spotlights installed in the ceiling
2 spotlights
2 outside lights
f/s for cooker
f/s for dishwasher
f/s for fridge / freezer
consumer unit
2 pendent lights
tv aerial
outside electrical point
I think this is well expensive whats you view
thanks for your replies

There is quite a lot of work there. The CU and associated circuit testing will take a day. then there is probably 2 days on first fix and at least a day on 2nd fix. Plus materials.
Ask him if he can get another quote.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
It needs more detail
Where in the UK are you?
In Scotland you can't have standard downlights on jobs that have a warrant- you need 55 lumens / per circuit watt downlights that are fire rated.
These downlights cost around £20-£30 to buy, as opposed to £3-£4 for a downlight in recent years.
You should use a competent person for the work, links below
In Scotland:
Individuals registered;

Companies

In England and Wales:

Ask him to break it down per point (ie 1 socket, 1 fused switch) this is how most electricians price anyway. The post back with this info and your location and we can give you a better idea
And as per Baldelectrician - as it's an extension (ie new build) then your lights will have to comply with energy saving building regulations - check what you are getting from the builder - standard halogen down lights will not comply0
