It may be the manager is not genuinely sick but has issues that caused them to react badly and sack her (and then reverse it by sending her the course message) -The fact the area manager was in *may* mean they were sent home to sort themselves out . Or this was the manager's way to make a point -in case she is a malingerer.
I would suggest your daughter keeps her mouth shut about this to any other staff and doesn't mention it to the manager at all. Once she's been there a while she'll probably have a better idea of the cast of characters and their management styles but for now if she wants to keep the job discression is the key.
I hope all goes well for her after this blip and she's happy in the job once she's settled in.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

I would suggest just saying no more about it, biting her tongue when the manager returns, etc., face has been lost, they both know it, so rubbing of noses in any way is unnecessary. Make like nothing ever happened, you never know how or when loyalties may switch, and she may need the support of the person who lost face over it all!0
