soo went to asda done my shopping went to til and had my card declined and was made to feel like scum by the lady at till. i asked if i could try my card a second time and she said no it will be declined again you dont have enough money. grrrrrrrrrr soo they suspend the sale i go out side and check my balance at the machines oh what a surprise i have loads and enough to pay for shopping about 5 times. so i draw out cash and go inside to get my shopping from customer services. mention there must be a problem with there machines lady asks who i banked with? " yorkshire bank" i say and guess what the lady said? oh yeah they dont work properly we allways having problems.

I'm not sticking up for Asda because it does sound as though you received sub-standard service but...
It's mainly your bank at fault here. Clydesdale/Yorkshire Bank (same company) are upgrading their IT systems. It's getting quite common for their computers to fail at authorising transactions at the moment.0 -
My friend is with Yorkshire bank and she is constantly getting declined when paying even with the amount in her account. At the shop I work at (which is not Asda) Yorkshire bank often gets declined, I have rang out IT services and they have said it is down to Yorkshire bank and not our systems.
However you shouldn't have been made to feel bad.0 -
I think its more the fact the woman said "no you don't have enough money" probably loud enough for other shoppers to hear and embarrass OP and not giving him the benefit of the doubt to try the card again. if she knew they were having trouble with those particular cards she could have asked OP what kind of card he had first rather than making him feel like a pauper!0
