Falko I get the same here plenty of care home workers and manual unskilled work, plenty of night work too. Plenty of temporary worker vacancies, Signed on at plenty of agencies but thats getting tiresome now fighting for jobs that are either already been filled or not even there.

If your like me you keep a close eye on the job market, I see agencies putting the same jobs on every couple of months, they obviously don't actually exist and its an attempt to fill books. Also a good 60% of jobs around here are part time as well, I mean I looked at one yesterday 8hrs a week in Next, what use is that to anyone other than students.

Only looking in a 15 mile radius for your job hunting is very restrictive even in good economic times - in a recession it's madness!

I have in the last week really calculated that on minimum wage if i travelled to work using my car i would need to pay at least £50 per week in petrol and that is within a 15 mile radius. Public transport isn't available the times most jobs i start and finish. So financially i have to restrict my job search area until for the time being.

Yes but for lower paid jobs the further away you go the more of an impact it makes into your budget.

But being unemployed long term makes a more important impact on your future career and working life which is a more important consideration than a couple of quid in the short term.

How do you suggest I get there? I don't live in London, Cardiff or any other major city, we have 1 bus per day leaving at a silly time, I am relying on my partner to get me to the nearest couple of towns which I am searching.

The job centre will not make you take a job if you are going to be financially worse off, well part time anyway as far as I know which is why part times out of the question for me.

We've covered this before. Falko lives in a rural area with very few bus services and can't move and doesn't have funds to learn to drive.

Annoying if all that is coming up locally is stuff you can't do!

Yep, I think we've covered all options in the past :D but this thread wasn't about that.

The frustrating thing is that on the rare occasion a job actually does appear that you could do you some how feel because there has been such a lack in the past that you should at least get an interview, 9 time out of 10 you hear nothing back.
