XP can't extract files from new 'FreeOTFE' volume

I've created a new volume using http://www.freeotfe.org/download.html and mounted it on my SD card, but there is no option to extract as stated by the instructions on the PDF shown. I know that often.vol is the correct icon as it shows it is 500MB (although the files I have put inside it are only a fraction of this amount).

often.vol is the volume. You have to mount the volume before you can extract the file(s) from inside itHow do I add a signature?0

Have you mounted the volume?
Having said that when I looked at FreeOTFE a few years ago it was a very flaky piece of software. TrueCrypt is much much better.Stompa0 -
I've no idea now if it's mounted or not. The only reason I presumed it was is because I managed to drag a few files into it, which the instructions implied could only be done once mounted. The file and edit menus don't have 'mount' options on Windows! This is the portable version, I'm supposed to be able to open these files on any PC, but can't even manage it on my own!0

+1 for truecrypt, if that helps? It seems rather solid. Worth reading up about the whole hidden volumes stuff if that's what yuou want to use, but TC is pretty simple for the simple encrypted partition/drive functionality0

I don't understand why this thing has to be mounted and unmounted - I mean, it's not Linux! (not that I understand why for Linux either)
