Best places to visit that are National Trust near(ish) to North London

Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone has been to any of the National Trust places near to North London there are a few near Hemel hempstead, st Albans, Luton and Southend way.

However i'm not sure which one to go to tomorrow to take advantage of the free weekend.

I don't want to go too far but my OH does want to give his car a bit of a run so an hour to two is fine.

Has anyone been to any of these or can anyone recommend any that are nearish to London and good to visit.

    Not National Trust but both Capel Manor Garderns (near Enfield) or Epping Forest are very nice.
