Re tuning tv with Sky?

I did a search, but couldn't find a post with a similar problem to mine.
I have a Sky subscription, but since the digital switchover, I can no longer get the standard channels on my tv tuner, just a blank blue screen.
Previously, if my Sky box was recording 2 programmes at once, I was able to just watch one of the standard 5 channels available on the actual tv. I'd like to be able to do this once more, but am afraid to try to re tune my tv myself in case I mess up the tuning for Sky and can't access the package I have anymore.
According to the booklet I received about the digital switchover, it says that if you have Sky there will be no need to re tune your tv, so I'm a little confused as to what has happened that I can't get access via the tv tuner itself for the standard channels.
I do have a fairly recent digital tv by the way.

The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

The reason why they say you will not have to retune if you have Sky is that they assume you only watch sky.
You will not lose Sky if you retune, your Sky box will either be on scart or HDMI, which means that it goes to your tv through something other than your coaxial socket. Retuning only retunes the receiver for your aerial which plugs into the coaxial socket on your tv, it does not affect Sky.
Retune and see what happens, you should get a whole load of new channels. If you get no channels come through then you either do not have freeview on your tv or you have a problem with the aerial. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
The 'standard channels' are not being broadcast anymore, thats the reason for the switchover, the analogue signal is being turned off.
You will need to buy a freeview box as well and plug it into a spare scart socket on the tv so you can watch the channels while the sky box is tied up recording.

So presumably wasn't using the analogue signal anyway.I do have a fairly recent digital tv by the way.
OP, retune your TV as suggested by Enterprise 1701C.
It will not upset you Sky setup.0 -

By the sound of it the OP was watching the five analogue channels. If the TV has a digital tuner for Freeview maybe it need selecting and tuning in.0 -
That blue screen you mention, could be an empty display shown by Sky boxes while on standby. In which case, you will need to use your TV remote to change from the Sky input (ie: SCART1, HDMI1) to another input such as any freeview tuners built into the TV, or a freeview box perhaps connected to SCART2.0
