    Mrs X interest in the property is the lease, which you will be taking over.

    You will become the new 'owner' of the leasehold interest. You will take over the remaining unexpired term of the lease, together with all the rights and obligations contained within it.

    Yes. I own several leasehold flats all with individual leases of varying ages. I have never met, or even spoken to any of the original leasees named on them.

    This confusion is perfectly understandable for a non-lawyer but it does illustrate the kind of confusion that may arise when Home Information Packs come in.

    If you get the pack for a leasehold property and read it, will you really understand it without a conveyancing solicitor such as I to explain it?

    The lease satsys the samer but the Land Registry entries for the leasehold title will show the name of the current owner.
