Need some help on who to claim from.

Having recently successfully claimed back PPI from BOS Classic Visa I am looking at other loans and credit cards I have taken out over the years.

I took out a loan through Norton Finance back in 2001 and this was the provided through Igroup. When I applied on the Norton Finance site there was not an option to decline Insurance only single or double cover. I also stated in the on-line application that I was self employed which would negate the use of PPI.

I settled the loan early in 2003.

The question I have are - is this outside of the timescale for reclaiming PPI? If it is not, who do I progress the claim with?

Any help will be really appreciated.

Hello there - the time barring is 6 years from the date you discovered the issue. There are 2 problems that you may face

1) that the sale took place before FSA regulation came in to force
2) companies are required to retain records of loan applications for 6 years from the date the account was closed - therefore your records may have been deleted

If Norton were members of the General Insurance Standards Council (GISC) in 2001 then they will have to have met similar standards that exist today and your complaint will fall under FOS, so if your complaint is rejected then FOS can help.
