I have a bank account with barclays forone of my kids. I owe barclays money as part of the iva settlement. If I paid money into that account for the kids...is it safe or could they empty it to offset my debts as I hear happens if you leave any money in your own account?

I cannot open a new kids account anywhere as they do credit checks as i would control them.

many thanks

Hi -- in theory it should be safe, however, with my kids account I diodn't take the chance and put it in a building society kids account -- they didn't redit check and all is well. we used the Skipton, but Yorkshire Building Society are good too ( we have our own savings account with them).

Opened a couple of Yorkshire BS ones for them as Trustee. No problems and far better customer service.
    many thanks
