security lights

I'm looking to install an external solar powered security light. I'm looking for

a) how bright they are (how does one compare "superbright LEDs"?)
b) how efficient the solar generation is

http://www.powerbee.co.uk/signaller-pro-ii-solar-security-light.html 2 x 48 superbright LEDs

http://www.maplin.co.uk/80-led-solar-floodlight-with-pir-385017 80 bright LEDs

So I guess my questions are
1) has anyone any personal experience of either of these (or a similar product? or
2) any electricians/experts know what specs I can use to pin down the difference between these?

Having been looking into LED lighting myself recently, I can say that there is not enough information provided on the specification of either of those products to determine which is brightest.

Unfortunately manufacturers use a load of tricks in their product descriptions so that it's hard to work out what the brightness actually is.

A neighbour has fitted lights similar in appearance to the Maplin ones, and they are useless at any distance.

Had one of these for 2 years.

Its okay but no where near as good as security light. I moved mine gaarge which point on to drive way to side of house small passage and its okay for that and I got two proper security lights that use twin spots par 30 one for front of house and one for back

The leds just give you a bright moonlight evening

Mine also need charging up for a few days turning switch off but works okay in winter but I only have it on a few secs unless movement is there
