Wireless headphones help please

Yesterday I bought a set of Trust GXT 16 wireless headphones for the computer. We go through headphones so quickly because I think the wires get damaged so wireless seemed to be the best option.

HOWEVER! We can't get sound through the speakers and the headphones at the same time (so that we can switch from one to the other easily). Our other headphones all had a normal 3.5mm jack, but these have a usb connection. Is that the reason? It's very annoying to be honest.

I've been on the Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices page and clicked on everything possible to see if there's anything on there which will help. Nothing doing.

This morning I was listening to the radio through them, and decided to see whether I could switch between the two just by unplugging the headphones so that the computer would default to the speakers. Unfortunately that didn't happen, and when I plugged the headphones back in I couldn't hear through them until I rebooted the computer. Is there anything I can do about this?

Please be gentle and don't blind me with science - I know very little about computers (and things like this make me want to use them less and less to be honest :()

I assume you are on Windows 7. If so, if you go to 'Voice Control options' tou can choose which devices to feed audio through.

Right lick on the sound icon on the taskbar, properties and you will also be able to check which items receive audio. Same principle.

It just brings me to exactly the same page as I've done before going the long way round via the control panel - there's no option for multiple sources on it though.

No, I don't have the last column - that's presumably the problem then? I think we're just going to have to upgrade our computer.

I think you are pretty much out of luck

If you go back the Sounds and Audio Devices
under the Playback tab you will see a list of devices, generally most applications will only playback though ONE device at a time, because your headphones are usb they count as another device, thus you can only use one or the other.

If you unplug and replug the usb headphones while the computer is running, you have to close whatever program is playing music, go back to the panel, right click the device which belongs to your headphones and select "Set as default device", close then re start whatever application you are using to listen to music.

If you want somthing you can use both at the same time you need somthing that sits inlie between the comp and the speakers eg most of Sennheiser's range of wireless headphones have both imputs and outputs.
