What price advice - used car

Hi,

I'm looking at buying a 58 plate Toyota Auris 2.0 D-4D T Spirit Hatchback from a main dealer. It's on the forecourt at £7500.

I've got no Part Exchange and am a cash buyer.

What price should I be looking for ?

Mike.

The prices above are based on:
A mileage of 40,000 (average for age)

    From Parkers

    http://www.autotrader.co.uk/search/used/cars/toyota/auris/postcode/cf110sn/radius/1501/keywords/T%20Spirit/maximum-age/up_to_3_years_old/fuel-type/diesel/sort/default

The above link shows cars nationwide with the same cirteria your vehicle has.
  • Obviously way less than £7500.

What about warranty ? Main dealer, car less than 5 years old, should be good for 12/24 months I think.

Check consumables such as tyres. 4 new ones will put a dent in £400, windscreen wipers another £50 or so, car mats another £50/100, it should be serviced but check what was done at the 3 and 4 year services as some advisories are due e.g. coolant, brake and gearbox fluids etc.

Also check brakes, front and back, as they are a few hundred for all four corners.

Essentially if you needed to do all of the above, irrespective of the general condition, you could be looking at the thick end of £1000, which obviously has a big impact on the price you should pay.

I bought the exact same car in March 2010 on an 07 Plate with 20K on the clock for approx £9,000.

It's a little more than we wanted but locally there were no other 2.0's available... I sold it ten months later and made a bit of a loss (To be expected).

Thanks all - when I got there it was on the forecourt at £7900. Finally agreed on £7300 including MOT just so i have 12 months on it and of course the full main dealer check and 12 month warranty.

I'd checked on whatcar and which and got prices around £7600 - and as it ticked the boxes of what i needed i decided to go for it.

did they put it up i wonder ?
cars can sometimes be underpriced causing no interest
yet you overprice them and get a tickle
    good result though

The auris is a nice car too, I had one before and Toyota dealerships (in my experience) are extremely helpful and friendly!
