Yes, he should report the gentleman at the BHF who threatened him to BHF head office. In a work situation he is not going to get on with everyone and the quicker he deals with that, gets his head down and works hard for 8 weeks, the easier it will be. And hopefully he will actually learn something.

To be fair, he should have been asking for more than 16 hours 6 months ago, not now. You can not blame that on the job centre.

I think he should see this as a good experience for him rather than automatically being against it to be honest. It is clear he doesn't want to work 30 hours for job seekers money, if he doesn't want to do that, he needs to get a job. Which is the point of him doing it!

If you work out, on national minium wage he should work 11.29 hours-round to 11 for arguments sake- for £56.25 (56.25/4.98)

It amazes me that people can moan "why wont they work for 30 hours" . They are working almost double the hours for half the money and most have to pay for own transport. How is that fair? Most people are unemployed due to know fault of their own. Not every jobseeker is a lay about-if they were do you think papers would make such a big deal about it?- they are people too. I doubt anyone else would put up with such poor conditions of pay, very little rights and still be positive.

Im not saying job seekers should have it "easy" by any standard, but why punish people for something not alot of them can control. These work placements are just useless (most-not all). Ive been on it. I was a glorified tea maker and letter opener but masked under the guise of real work as a administrator. I did 2 months then found another placement in a small charity shop and i felt i had alot more out of it. I constantly asked to be put on courses to get more work expeirence but i got the impression the jsa werent happy. In the end i went back to college, now off to university this year then to get a good job(hopefully!).
