Hi, I don't know if anyone could help me with this.
I have Norton Internet Security on with it set to scan everything as it comes in.
On wed I did a quick scan and found nothing, then last night it did its usual weekly full scan and found w32.stration.mm on here and removed it.
I'm mainly worried as to how this got on there in the first place.
My virus definitions update automatically and its on all the time so how did it sneak on?
Many thanks

sometimes stuff sneaks into your temp internet files, it's no problem and Norton will remove it during a scan with no problemsEx forum ambassador

Because Norton doesn't actually do that well compared to others for detection. (according to this month's computer shopper labs test). I'd personally dump Norton right this second and install AVG."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Although when I had McAfee it didn't detect a virus on my pc at all (not in temp files), until I installed AVG which was when I discovered it."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

To have Internet explorer automatically delete files in the Temporary Internet Files folder
Go to Tools , Inteernet Options and click on the Advanced tab.- Scroll down to the Security section and check the boxes for "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed" and "do not save encrypted pages to sisk".

Any ideas on how I do that with Firefox?
I must say I hate the way Norton takes over your entire machine - it made me update IE before it would run, even tho I use Firefox.0 -
Hi Sharra
Seems it is a mass mailing worm http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2006-092111-0525-99&tabid=2
Do the logs show what directory it was found in ?
Are you running MS Updates - You need to do this with MS IE. http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/
If you do not want IE 7, use the Custom update button and unselect IE7.Rich people save then spend.
Poor people spend then save what's left.0 -
