Transferring video tape to DVD disc

Can anyone please help as I am a bit thick with these things. I want to transfer my wedding video to a dvd disc via my laptop using a device I have purchased of which the instructions are quite vague.
I have done a transfer from my camcorder of other recordings and that is ok as I used jack plugs from the camcorder.
My problem is that I have three video recorders none of which have places for the jack plugs to go, do I need a particular type of VCR or is there another way. Thank You for your kind attention.

You probably need a lead which has a scart socket on one end to plug into the video and has audio and video plugs at the other or a scart to av adaptor plug like this one:

Your three jack plugs would be, I would think, red, black and yellow. The red and the black are the audio (red = right, black = left). The yellow is the video.
If none of your machines has jack sockets (and sometimes there under a flap at the front), you may have to get some converter plugs. There should be phono sockets on the machines at the back, phonos are more often used than jacks, you can get jack to phone converters for about £1.50 each.
The other way is to get a new lead with jack plugs at one end and phonos at the other. The cost of the lead would be about the same at the cost of three converters.0
