Anyone Know of a Good Financial Investment Book

I've bought a couple of investment books which have been pretty illuminating and contains plenty of good advice. However, I was wondering if anyone knew of any good financial books which contain formulas to calculate rate of return on investments, how to calculate APR, etc. Preferably written in plain English and not too dry!? Or is that asking too much?

    I guess what I really need is to find out how to calculate rate of return based on monthly investments followed by infrequent lump sums per year so it wouldn't be particularly straightforward. I don't know if this would be covered in a GCSE maths book?

    well to be honest it just sounds like you need to work out the daily rate and go from there, once you can work out the daily rate you can work it out according to whatever you need, as regards to recommending such a book i wouldnt bother buying it just to work out percentages, returns etc as all you really need is the formula.

    anyway here is what your looking for rate/time
    for compound it would be (1+PRT/100)*time eg
    p=amount/product
    r=rate
    t=time

    so it shoudl look something like this (1000 x1.05)*2 this would be 1000 in a savings account offering 5% and for two years assuming annual compounding

    there will of course be tax deducations of 20% but its best just to learn the basics first

    I use to have a financial calculator that could do this. I guess they are still available. Now that we have computers you may find such a software tool online somewhere.
