Is there any reason to do a BIN without "immediate payment required"?

It seems like such an obvious thing to have that I'm surprised there is even an option to remove it.
I might be mypoic about this, is there something I'm missing? Probably good for a buyer in certain situations, as they can secure an item and pay for it later, but not for the seller as quite a few buyers disregard the 'pay for it' part, and the seller has their time wasted and has to relist possibly at cost to themselves.

It means that multiple purchases from the same seller all have to be paid for individually, therefore no postal discounts for the buyer, and extra paypal fees for the seller.
The shopping cart facility should overcome this but is still too glitchy.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
Not all of my BINS are immediate payment required for the reason that Steve outlines. Some of my lines encourage multiple purchases and as they are bulky but light I can actually send up to 3 for the same price as 1, so really want those combined invoices.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The reason I don't force immediate payment is that I also offer collection in person and therefore would rather they paid cash when they collect.0

As above, plus I also take cheques and postal orders. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

And on my side of the coin, I ALWAYS choose Immediate Payment Required as that way when I sell something, I know I've got the money and won't be messed around.
It's different things for different people on this occasion. What works for some, won't for others.0 -

It definitely varies from item to item. I do have immediate payment required on some of my BINS- the ones where it is very unlikely anyone would buy across two different listings. Also, I have no single BINS at all, all of mine are multiple or variable BINS with up to 40 items on each BIN so am lucky that if someone doesn't pay I don't have the worry of a wasted listing- I can just add the unpaid item back to the total 8 days later.
For me it all depends on item. I run lots of auctions as well though as I don't have a shop and so still have issues with them and slow payers, but on some i still accept cheques , postal orders and bank transfers.
I'm holidaying soon and couldn't possibly leave my son in charge of posting things, so will have all my auctions finisih 8 days before I go so that I can do any necessary NPBs. I will keep my BINs running until about 4 days before and switch them all to immediate payment though.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I tried it for a while but it didn't really suit. I missed the flexibility of accepting other payments and being able to offer postage discounts. I also now tend to do auctions rather than BINs anyway.
I know and accept that this leaves me open to NPBs but that is a small price to pay for flexibility. If people are too exasperated by NPBs then there is no point selling on eBay without IPR - it is not going to change simply because the auction process makes it uncertain how much a buyer is going to end up paying and how to account for that when debiting money. With BINs, the seller/eBay have more control over the end price and greater reason to do as other sites do and take payment immediately, but the answers above tell you why some sellers do not use the IPR facility."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

eBay is a much more DIY site than Amazon or Play or any of the big sites which allow third parties.
I think the flexibility to set one's own terms for payment, etc. can be a double-edged sword at times - particularly when it allows NPBs that other sites simply do not have any problems with - but if you are prepared to accept that as consequence of flexibility I think the opportunity cost of IPR is greater than the benefits it brings.
Other competitor sites with immediate payment are set up differently from eBay and are not geared around buying multiples (I very rarely buy multiples of any item through Amazon, for instance, except maybe USB sticks).
However, I now no longer get any paper payments, so at the OC is getting less.
Good luck
