PPI reclaim with no policy number?

Probably 'not a cat in hell's chance' will be the answer, but i got a mortgage in 89 and was in the house for nearly seven years before emigrating, returning five years ago
It was with the Halifax, but I no longer have any of the policy details, can I reclaim the PPI?
I would also like to do it personally, rather than through a company, can I reclaim and how should I go about it?

I will watch this one as I also had a mortgage with the Halifax back in 1990 for 10yrs with PPI which I was told at the time that I needed to have this for the Mortgage to be accepted as this was our first mortgage and I was only 22 at the time.0

Hello
Yes you can complain about the PPI as long as it was mis-sold in the first place, you need a clear reason why you believe it was. If this is the case, due to the lack of records in your possession, your best bet would be to send an SAR to the Halifax and obtain any records they still hold for you - technically the banks don't have to keep records beyond 6 years but they may be archived if you're lucky. Obviously they can't investigate a complaint if neither of you have any records.
This is the link for the SAR - you'll need to send them £10 and give them 40 days to respond - do supply them with any previous addresses they have had for you to help them locate records.

And absolutely stick to doing this yourself, if you do get any further with it people will help you on the forum.
Good luck
