Have a look at https://www.viamichelin.co.uk and use the route planner there. It's really useful. By the way, I think you'll find it's La Croix du Vieux Pont. However, Viamichelin couldn't find such a place. Have you any more details?
You'll probably enjoy driving in France, expecially outside of busy town centres. Take your time, and concentrate especially on roundabouts. In towns you must gave way to traffic coming from the right, which is bit odd to UK drivers.
In rural areas, French drivers will be quite happy for you to be a bit slow. Where we are drivers will just stop in order to say hello to a friend. No-one's bothered andjust waits till they set off again. After all, it's much more polite to say hello to someone! (In town, however, don't dally, but there's no need to rush! And a honk on someone's horn is better than you rushing and crashing.)
Let us know if there's anything else you're worried about.

Well we took a bit longer ,ahem, as we got lost !!! be aware that if you find yourself past your turn off and need to turn round get back on the other side you will pay yet more tolls ! lol
so i cant remember exactly how much in tolls we paid ,but more than we should have <sigh>

Yes, I've found it now ... a campsite.
According to Viamichelin, the tolls payable, if you follow the route the site recommends, amount to 13,70€.Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good. - Thomas Sowell, "Is Reality Optional?", 19930 -
We've been to the site a few times, it's fab. Driving over there is far better than here. Have a great time.0

Don't be nervous about driving in France. I drove to Eurodisney about 3 years ago and it was fine. I'd never even driven on a motorway prior to my journey!!!! If I can do it anybody can.0

Hi - we use the site for Early / late year breaks, it's lovely and there is plenty to do. New bar complex last year, excellent restaurant and good pools.
I've done most of the routes. About 3 - 4 hours relaxed drive from Calais, Dunkirk and Zeebrugge.
Paris is an hour and a half via Compiegne then the motorway.
Nearest Hypermarket is Carrefour in Compiegne and a Cora Supermarket in Soissons. There's an Intermarche (like a co-op) in Berny itself, 10 minutes easy walk from the site.
Do go to the Armistice Clearing in the forest (on the road to Compiegne) and pay the 3 Euro to see the (mock) railway carriage where Marshall Foch signed the First World War armistice with the Germans.
The local area is a bit industrial but don't let that put you off. Pierreferond Castle is also worth a look.
Walk into Vic sur Aisne on market days and there are loads of stalls.
I'd recommend the site as a beginners site - you won't be disappointed. But do go much further in future!

Intermarché is cheaper than Carrefour, which is cheaper than Cora. On the whole. Usually, Intermarché stores are not as attractive as the other two!
