I am sure your call checker is one of the best service in the UK. But may be with high volume of customers, i am sorry to say that now there are comprimise in quality of service. For example I have twice sent email to the callchecker address about the wrong numbers in call checker to make a call to India mobile, but still the wrong number remains. All the mentioned 3p 4p numbers to make a call to a mobile in India is now changed and over chraged. Please update it.

A quick count shows the CallChecker has 8 different providers offering 3p/minute or 4p/minute rates to Indian mobiles from a BT landline.
The gateway ones (those with 0844 access numbers) cannot be charging more - their per minute rates are tied to the 5th, 6th and 7th digits of their 11 digit numbers (you'll see that those charging 3p/minute use 0844 439 numbers and those charging 4p/minute use 0844 428 numbers and, if you check the March 2007 BT Specialised Numbers Price List, you'll see that, respectively, g10 [3p/minute] and g11 [4p/minute] rates apply).
Which are you being overcharged by?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Sorry for not have communicated well. The issue is not the overcharging. If you ring any of the 3p or 4p call to make a call to an Indian mobile, the automatic operator suggestigng to call different number, which cost 5p or more. What I suggested is to delete those numbers from the list if that really don't work. I am still using 0844 call number but cost me 5p. It is better if you provide those numbers straight away instead of calling a cheap number and redirecting to a higher rate number.0

I agree that must be very annoying but, having checked the various sites, the firms appear to still be offering the 3p and 4p rates you found on the Callchecker. As the Callchecker does an automatic nightly 'trawl' of the various websites, those prices and numbers are what the 'trawl' finds and presents.
I will e-mail Callchecker again drawing attention to your comment in post #3 to see whether they can take some sort of action.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hi Shajan,
As Heinz has mentioned, we're essentially at the mercy of the information supplied via the various call providers here.
If, however, you'd like to send the details to me via Private Message, I'll see what I can do to resolve this issue.

While I was discussing the issue for sometimes it was sorted. then again it is repeating now. And my attempts to send a private mail is failed.
there are 7 providers of 0844 that offer either 3 pence or 4 pence to make a call to a mobile to India, according to your website. If you call those numbers you will hear an automatic message'' it is currently not possible to make a call with number, however you can call to
for access this number that cost you only 6 pence''. It means those numbers are not the cheapest. Also by trying these number you already loose money. I have attempted all 7 numbers and lost money for thsoe calls, but never connected to Indian. Please update it and provide new cheapest numbers.0 -
Again Shajan - the numbers listed are those obtained from websites provided by various call providers.
These provide a budget means of connecting to India. Whilst the services are normally quite reliable, for the cost involved, sometimes there may be disruptions or periods where alternative numbers may be supplied.
It's likely that many of these providers use specific network and telephony routes that enable low-cost access. If these networks are down for maintenance or unavailable, then other routes (at higher costs) may be the only available option.
