Add another 250-500k to it and buy a dream home in Southern Spain or the Algarve.

First I'd want to see it, touch it .... and roll in it.

Then I'd buy a small house and a nice little car .... and take up some hobbies and interests.
I'd probably also pay people to be my friend, so I had people to do stuff with.

Every now and then I'd purchase the services of a hot manwh0re... just because I can.

Some friends of mine used to pay for !!!!!s, I always used to leave at that point in the evening (about 1 am) they could never understand me when I said "she's only doing it for the money" an obvious statement I know but it's more about you (than them) don't you think you are worth more than having to pay for sex?.

Not when you compare the choices:
1] Slap around town giving it away and feeling like sh1te
2] Pay for it, get it when/how you want and feel no guilt :)

The quality of [2] will be far superior to [1]. You get what you pay for you know - and 6 pints of Stella down the pub doesn't get you much.

Even at 54 I'm probably far too old fashioned, so I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

I'm a mite younger, but I fully agree. I like people, particularly those of the attractive female variety, but with this liking also comes respect. If they aren't every bit as into what's going on as I am, then I'm simply not interested.
I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.

Really depends how old you are....if you haven't got a house I'd be buying one first of all...you'd still get a mortgage without a job with that kind of money..
    I wouldnt be working btw...

As you say, a lot depends on how old you are. And on what your expected lifestyle is, whether you have any mortgage or other debts, how many people the money is for (kids education etc), whether you have any self-employment ambitions, what your tax liability is and so on.

There's a good chance that a mere million probably won't see you through much if you are still young and have a family to bring up - not if you don't continue to work.

At 29, buy a house, maybe a new car, invest the rest, and get a less stressful job :P

Buy a big bag of the letter 's', to put on the end of all the mis-uses of 'pound' as a plural....

In MY case, I'd pay off the mtg, buy a rental or two for the kids, and invest the rest.

If I were you, I would pay off all debt, buy a house, have a reasonable holiday (not a RTW cruise), take out a pension if you don't have one, treat close family members and then invest the rest.

I would see a number if IFAs, and pick one you like the best. But don't let him near more than half your money. REad up and invest the other half and then see who deos best ;-)
