how long ago did you split? is he still living in the material home ?
    what are the grounds?
you have to have been living apart for minimum of 6 months for a divorce to be granted (that being not in the same household)
you really need to instruct a solictior and they when you have met the timescale will issue divorce papers , if there is no contest then you husband will sign them and it will go through the motions - you will also need to work out who is having what regarding any marital assets , who will look after the children if you have them

If you are both in agreement then you can do this yourself. Check out Divorce on the https://www.direct.gov.uk website. I downloaded the paperwork including the guide and submitted it to my local county court. I am now in the process of getting my decree nisi now that the judge has ruled that our marriage has irretrievably broken down. Soon to be ex OH did not contest and no fees were paid by me because I am on income based JSA.

You can do all the paperwork etc yourself where things are uncontested which means you only pay the court fees and avoid solicitors.

The time scale for getting it sorted depends on the grounds for the divorce - if it's adultery or unreasonable behaviour (abuse etc) then you can start the process straight away, but if not you'll have to wait.

Have a look at the link below - everything is spelled out pretty well.
