im not sure what a good price for coconut oil is but when i wanted to try my hand at soap making this was the cheapest i found online
    at http://www.spicesofindia.co.uk/acatalog/Parachute-100-Percent-Coconut-Oil.html#aOGH017_2dp

500ml is £3.95 but postage is £3.95 so i bought 2 and paid £11.85 for 1litre this is the problem with buying it online having to pay postage (bottle are heavy!) but looking at other sites and searching around there are places selling 400ml for £15!!
a quick search on amazon found this
6x250ml bottles which is 1.5 litre is £11.94 so a better deal

The best coconut oil is the pure virgin types - so look out for it saying virgin or extra virgin coconut oil. Holland & Barratt sell it at £16.49 for 500ml. I didn't know Lidl sell it - I will certainly check it out.

My daughter gets her coconut oil from Sainsburys pharmacy, which she uses on her hair. Bells is the brand and its 90gm size, they dont always have in stock depends if your area has call for it, but they can order and it costs around £1.20, not bought for a couple of months. The container classes it as coconut oil B.P. pure natural coconut oil. Its solid when its cold but when you warm up it changes to clear liquid.
  • Groovy foods Organic EVCO from Tesco is £6.39 and it's the Dogs for EVERYTHING :)

I have been using Extra-Virgin Coconut Oil for years for health & beauty and the best I have ever bought is this:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004HFQ6FM/ref=cm_cr_asin_lnk

It tastes so delicious, its wonderful on toast in place of butter, the smell is divine, its beautiful for hair and skin use. Ideal to pop a tsp in a mug of hot chocolate. Fantastic price too! I don't buy any other brand now.

That is the nastiest rubbish ever and totally unusable in a bottle! you have to soak the bottle in a bowl of boiling water to get it to melt. I would not ingest this nor put it on my face. Yuk. You are so right!
