Co-op / Post Office Cheque

Options
Hi all,

I paid in a cheque to my Co-op cashminder account via submitting it to the post office with paying in slip and envelope last Friday 13th April and it's still not appearing on my online banking. I got a receipt from the post office, but I'm concerned that it's gone missing. I know before I even contact the Post Office that they will say that I should 'wait a bit longer' or 'we don't have an audit trail, we just post them' and Co-op will say that they havent processed it yet. (The joys of the two worst customer services trying to work together:T)

Should I try and have the cheque re-issued and try and get to a Co-Op branch (24 miles away!!) to deposit it or should I wait another week? What's the turn-around time been for others?

As soon as I gave it to the woman at the post office, I walked away feeling that it wouldn't go smoothly. Must be instinct:cool:!

    Hi there,
I use the Co-Op Cheque Deposit service quite regularly, and recently I have noticed that the processing seems to take a ridiculously long time. I have found usually that the processing time can take roughly up to five days (to show on your account.) Technically, this means that the deposit should be appearing now. However, I have also found that my Post Office seems to send off deposits made on Friday on the following Monday.

Personally, I would wait until Monday or Tuesday before chasing it up, but if I am honest, it does seem to be taking longer than usual, so your only option may be to have the cheque reissued.

I've aways found it quickest to post the cheque to the Co-op. I post it to my local branch rather than their cheque clearance centre.
