Dyson Vacuum DC15 or DC17

Does anyone have any experience with these two vacuums? I am inclined to buy the DC17 because it is newer. The one con I've heard is that the canister size is a little small and requires frequent emptying. It is not much smaller than the DC15's, so I'm not sure this should be a concern.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Steve, I have the DC15 (the ball version of the animal!) and its fantastic. I can't say how much I love it, and I am amazed at how clean it gets the carpet, also at how much it picks up. Quite embarrassing really...:D
If it was me I would go for the DC15Mortgage Free as of 20.9.17Declutter challenge 2023, 2024 🏅 🏅⭐️⭐️

Frequent emptying is relative. It depends on how diry your carpets are and how regularly you clean them? We have a DC08 and find that the canister needs emptying about once every other month. I would suggest this is hardly a major consideration?"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Don't know if they are still doing it, but we got our DC15 last October from Argos for , I think, about £180. Still a lot for a hoover, but about half everyone else's price, and with 5 year warranty. Sucks like a 747, and we empty it often anyway, who wants all that crap lying around.0

Did you pay for the warranty? I had a Dyson a few years back (sit on the stairs version) and it quickly worked its way through parts during the two year warranty period including a new motor. Once the warranty was finished the cost of parts ment I spent nearly £100 in the first year - I had paid £370 (not sure of the exact figure) for the machine which meant it had cost me well over £100 per year. Managed to get a replacement hoover from the company that had sold it to me and made sure it was not a Dyson. Threw it away and won't go there again.0

No, didn't pay for the 5-year warranty, as far as I know it is now standard with Dyson. They are normally very good with replacement parts and service, but of course they have to be! We already had a well used DCO8, but couldn't resist Argos's offer, would never have paid full price though. Nearly £400 for a hoover is really OTT. It's an impressive bit of kit though, wouldn't be surprised if it swallowed pets and small children. Heavy, mind you, not for weaklings.0

Glad to hear about the free warranty - the company were very good about fixing the hoover whilst the warranty was in place so you should be fine especially at that price. It was an excellent hoover when it was working but it kept throwing itself down the stairs instead of following me up them as described! A little bit too much excitement for me and the dog - and very heavy as you say. I have a sebo now - german I think - solid as a rock but very akward to use.0
