City Link

My husband ordered some items mail order, and purposely paid extra for delivery yesterday knowing there would be someone in all day. The goods never arrived.

I've been in all morning, and they haven't arrived today, so he checked the City Link tracking page.

The page states the courier called here yesterday morning, but we were not in. This is a lie as husband was home, and we haven't had a missed delivery card. It says the parcel was signed for by Patterson at number 69.

69 is not even in the same street as us, but I've been round and asked if they have a parcel. No delivery has been attempted there and they are not called Patterson, and don't know anyone in their street with that name either.

City Link are adament that there was nobody home here yesteday, and they have delivered the item to the Pattersons at 69

The company we ordered off is now closed for the weekend, so I'll have to get onto them on Monday morning and see if they can chase it up with City Link.

So annoying when the package contains printer inks, which we need for our printer.
Here I go again on my own....

Even if you weren't in when they came (which I appreciate you were), I thought that they just leave a card saying they couldn't deliver and take it back to their depot for you collect yourself. Secondly, even if they tried to deliver and decided to leave it with a neighbour, it would be left within a few doors either way or across the street and the card would be through your door telling you where it was. If you have to go onto another street to a number 69, it's clearly not you he attempted to deliver to - why would you leave it so far away from the correct person's home?

My guess would be that they did deliver on time but just went to the wrong address in the first instance, tried the bell and no-one was in so a neighbour (at 69) called Patterson took the parcel. I bet he did put a card through the door to say where it was... it's just that he put it through the door at a completely different address.

Have you double checked your address and postcode is correctly listed on the site you ordered the goods from in case there's an error? Or is there another road locally with a similar name? I would think those are the easiest ways of getting a delivery this mixed up.

Well, I hope they can track down where they've actually sent them to and you can get your goods. Best of luck.

Our address is correct with the company we ordered off. They sell printer inks, blank media etc., so my husband orders from them quite frequently.

Still no idea where the parcel is, and we still haven't found anyone locally called Patterson! All the street names are quite different here, but we did wonder if the driver had gone to the wrong street by accident.

  • Wouldn't get this sort of service from TNT (who I happen to work for...plug, plug). Well done for doing a job on us yesterday (Albion) - but we'll still finish above you and "the executioner" - Keano (remember Alf Inge Haarland). Always liked Sunderland. Good, loyal supporters. But 'fraid I've always hated Keano!

City link -wouldn`t touch with a barge pole, twice they claimed to have visited the house and that no-one was in...ended going to their barking depot to colect a £5.99 parcel,a horrrendous journey and seeing someone seriously injured in a road accident, then waiting an hour at their depot while they looked for it....never again

Same thing happened with us with a computer. Stayed in all day didn't arrive. They stated they had been and left a card etc when they hadn't. Was put out for delivery next day they didn't arrive ran out of time. I got onto computer company and told them to get their act tog with Citylink who were telling lies about having been. If computer not delivered on the saturday morning just to cancel the order. In fairness to the computer supplier they did give them a bollocking and refunded our postage and gave us a free printer as it was to be delivered for my daughters birthday.
Wouldn't touch Citylink with a barge pole I know of others they have done this to run out of time or no intention of delivering so just say they have been.

    Matter resolved now.

Hubby previously lived with his aunt in Sunderland, who is currently working away. His Gran popped round last night to check on the Aunt's house, and the lady opposite came out and said she had a parcel which was the missing one.

So City Link were correct in saying that they had delivered to 69, but they omitted to tell us that it was 69 in a street in Sunderland, not north Durham where we live!

Been in touch with the company hubby ordered off, and they apologised to sending them to his old address, and said it was human error.

Just glad we got the parcel in the end.

i worked for citylink for many years and sometimes people would call and we would just cringe, knowing that the whole thing would have been balsed up but on other occassions we knew it wasnt our fault - always depended on the office doing the delivery, like the man who arguied with me that his failed delivery card did not have three letters and five numbers on it - just five numbers, turned out the letters were R E F but he had thought it stood for ref (it didnt) :o
:D I understand ALOT more than I care to let on :D
