Natwest/CPP Mobile Insurance claim declined

Hi,
I have a Natwest Gold account which costs £12.95 a month and includes mobile phone insurance which is provided by CPP. I have never made a claim before as I'm usually extremely careful with my phone, however.....
This week I inadvertantly put my iPhone in the washing machine after scooping it up off the bed with the bundle of washing. I phoned CPP and explained what had happened. The call handler put me on hold for about 1 minute then came back on the line and said my claim was being declined.
Their reason for declining my claim is that I didn;t take "reasonable precaution" to ensure my phone wasn't accidentally damaged. I have appealed their decision and am waiting to hear but don't have much hope.
I feel let down as the insurance states I am covered for accidental damage including water damage. It would have been easier to say i'd lost the phone, im too honest......

it can come under the "reasonable precaution" bit unfortunately but who decides what is reasonable? Challenge it
As ever, appeal, get the final response letter then go to the FOS. It costs them over £560 when the FOS just look at your case0
