Help - Petrol Station

Hi guys,

Last week I put some fuel in my car went to pay and my card was declined so after a stern talking to from the guy behind the counter he made me fill out a non pay form and leave my drivers licence with him.

I have been back today to pay for my fuel and they appear to have lost my licence. He has asked me to go back again tomorrow to speak to the manager and hopefully they will be able to find it.

Where do I stand with this issue, Also I think he stapled it to the form I had to fill out so can I claim for defacing my licence if they do find it.

Hi, i am surprised that they took your licence, the company i work for do not take anything because of this and there used to be the occasional problem where someone would leave for example,a watch, and when the customer came back they claimed it was a rolex etc.
my only suggestion to you if they dont find it , report as lost to the dvla and insist the petrol station pay for a new one.
if the garage is a company run site ie bp,shell, esso rather than a privately owned, contact their customer care,
    good luck.

  • Thanks Charlie, They wanted me to leave my phone or my tax disk as he wanted to ensure I came back as apparently they have had alot of non payment recently. But I told him to stick it as it is an offence to drive without displaying a tax disk and there is no way I am leaving a £300 phone for £20 worth of fuel.

It is a BP station so I will write to their customer care after I have been in tomorrow to speak with the manager.

well without too much detail i have lots of knowledge regarding bp,i doubt its a company run site, they have strict rules about this type of thing,so possibly a franchise or dealer site,i feel sure that the manager will help you,if you dont get any joy, send me a pm and i will try to help you.
