Theres no need to cancel any accounts unless you're not really using them! But, you say you want to close your HSBC one soon... why?! Especially when you have an 0% overdraft until 2009!!

Hi, did you find out why you got declined the flex account originally?

The reason I ask is that I have been turned down for the flex account and when I spoke to them recently, they suggested opening the account in branch as the original application didnt process properly ..

Originally I did not provide 3 years address when I apply via telephone may be this is the reason I got decline. When I pop into the branch they are more relax .As long as you do not bankrupt or have CCJ they will provide you basic account although credit check is required.

They do full current account check even for the basic flex account.
Really good if you want to improve your credit rating as they report to the credit reference agencies on monthly basis.
