SAR Back But Is It All There?

Hi there,
I have finally received my SAR back from Santander today.
I requested the information on 5 loans that I'd had but there is only information on 1 loan going back to 2001 which does show I had PPI.
It says on the covering letter that historical information can only be retained if there is a legitimate reason and due to time elapsed some may have been destroyed.
Do you think this means I will be unable to get the other loan details?
Many thanks in advance for any advice:)

Hi,
Just wanted to add to my previous question.
The SAR that they sent back was for an Abbey National loan and the ones I have no information on is for loans with the Alliance and Leicester - is that relevant?
Do they not have this information available since taking them over?
Any ideas anybody???0 -
It depends on the age of the records and whether the bank retained them. They don't have to after around the 6 year mark. However saying that 'some may have been destroyed' is not a full response to your SAR. technically they should know whether they have been destroyed and when. You could write back to them and say you do not believe they have carried out a full search and either to provide your records or a copy of the destruction log for them. However at the end of the day, regardless of their response, if the records no longer exist they no longer exist.0

Hi Miss Chicken,
Thanks for your reply.
It just seems a bit strange that they've got the details on the oldest loan but not the more recent ones!
Will send a letter and see what happens.0
