  • No card or wine but they did leave me a folder with all the user guides/manuals in and various bills for the last 10 years ie. oven, hob, gas fire, boiler, integrated fridge, double glazing, kitchen refurb bills etc.

I would not be a fan of the wine and card plan either. I think I would rather maintain a very businesslike relationship with the seller/buyer.

Glad it's not just me being weird! :p

Didn't have card or wine, but did get a nice welcome pack which included where the local shops/etc, were, the keys to the windows, alarm code and how to alter it, etc.

One thing I'm thankful for is that the previous owners of our recent purchase left all this stuff for us too. Having the new boiler installation invoice came in handy when the thing stopped working within a week of moving in!

OP - if you can do this, your buyers would really apprciate it. I have the builder's invoice for the extension, the invoice for the blinds that fit in the odd shaped bay windows, the boiler invoice, the instruction manuals for the heating system and the alarm system and we are very much appreciative of it.

Cleanliness was very important to us though. When we first viewed the house it was absolutely spotless. Sparkling. We would not have bought it otherwise. However, we now think that they were naturally grubby/messy people who had the house professionally cleaned for selling and then never bothered cleaning it again after our offer was accepted. When we got the keys and went in I could have cried at the state of the kitchen and bathrooms. The hob was covered in grease, the cooker was vile and the cooker hood was sticky with cooking residue. I would have been ashamed to leave a place in that state. Thank goodness I had two days to clean the place before move-in day!!

  • I always leave the house clean and start a week before so I can clean windows etc. I have always left a card and a plant as I thought it was just a nice gesture. Never thought that some people might not like it. In fact when we have moved into a house where they have not left at least a card, I have felt a bit put out ! We're all different I suppose but I'm sure everyone appreciates the house being at least clean.

Integrated Appliances? I'd be seriously miffed if someone stripped them out of any house I was buying.....

Yes, as stated previously our buyers specifically wanted our (8 year old?) Rangemaster cooker included in the sale. Understandably as these can go for over £1000 second hand on ebay :o We were fortunate in that we managed to pick a replacement up for £350 on preloved and the EA paid £250 towards the cost to make amends for their error ;):D

    That was me :p

The OP hadn't said that they were integrated and I assumed (wrongly) that they were talking about a stand alone washing machine and fridge, in which case I would assume they were being taken unless the buyers negotiated to purchase them.

I've never had integrated applicances because I don't like them, personally. But I'm a bit weird about secondhand appliances - I really don't like the idea of washing my smalls in someone else's machine. You can tell I've never used a laundrette can't you? :rotfl:
