Hi, my ( retired) parents have decided to get a laptop. Now believe me when I say thy have NO clue about technology. Mum has just managed to master her kindle.
So, I'm looking for a good laptop for them, budget of £250-400, that will be fast, and responsive with wifi.
They don't need a lot of memory as won't store much on it, it's mainly just to browse the Internet.
They've seen an acer aspire for £349 in tesco.
Ideas???
Thank you

Have you had a browse through the "Sub £350 powerful laptops" thread?
At that price point laptops are all pretty much capable of doing what you ask. Just make sure you go for at least an i3 intel processor and 2-4GB of RAM.
Acer are ok, Toshiba are slightly better, Samsung, Lenovo and Asus are better again. Avoid HP and cheaper Sony Vaios.

although in the most part any laptop will do what they want, Acer do not have th best reputation for reliability,
personally i find refurbs are a great option for low budget laptops as you get a lot more laptop for the money.
one question to consider is size of screen, as for my parents they have found a larger laptop (17 inch screen) much better for them as they dont use it as such for the portability so the extra weight doesnt matter, but the bigger screen helps with their less than steller eye sightDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0
