This should definately trump your views of what a council house looks like!

note: not interested in the article except for the house.

And these used to be the council houses where I grew up. If you look at street view you can see the full row. They were the the envy of those (like my family) who lived in agricultural tied cottages.

This is the ex council estate I grew up on. Beautiful little village, wonderful houses, wonderful neighbourhood. Not a great picture I admit but its the best I can find of it.

Doesn't look council built at all, and I've seen thousands of them!
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

The main problem with an ex-couincil house is that the person next door to you may still be renting theirs, think it appropriate to keep coal in the bath and the remains of a 1988 Austin Metro in their front garden.

The reason I ask is because in another thread, someone asked for opinions on the property below and one response was that it was ex-council... although the council houses in my home town look nothing like this!

Thats just up the road from me. The estate is rough, that street used to have one of the most notorious families in the area living there (although not sure if this is still the case). It looks exactly as i imagine a council house. I personally cant see any reason to buy one on an estate, i would also imagine resale is difficult.
