Red Sea Cruise/Christmas/Thomson Celebration - advice pls

Options
Hi - am thinking of booking the Red Sea Cruise at Christmas with Thomson. Have been to Red Sea twice before (Sharm) and thought the cruise would show us a bit more of the area (particularly like the fact that the cruise includes Jordan).

Have only been on one other cruise which was Caribbean at same time of year - so do have some cruise experience.

Would be taking teenage daughters of 17 and 14 - so any drawbacks there, eg, boredom:rolleyes: although they both love Sharm too.

Does anyone have any advice please - good or bad - about doing this?

TIA

I have no idea J but am bumping the thread for you. Am interested in any answers as we would like to do this ourselves - then maybe follow it up with a week in sharm.

Never done a Red Sea cruise but the following comes to mind
    1. What is weather likely to be around Christmas (I wouldn't expect Caribbean style weather) ... you say you have done it before was it at Christmas? What sort of weather are you looking?
    2. Christmas/New year can be an expensive time to cruise with some companies adding 30-50% onto their prices from the weeks before or just after. I expect you may have to work with the holidays but so keep an eye on the prices
    3. When you say you are going with 'Thomson' are you thinking of one of their ships or just booking through them. Most lines cater very well for teenagers (who have their own clubs and hang outs) although I am not sure about Thomson .. but I know the likes of RCI, Princess etc. do have excellent facilities

No matter what you decide I hope you have a great time

Thanks Ivan and princess (for the bump!).

Have been to Egypt (Sharm twice, Cairo once) all at Christmas/New Year time (we like winter sun hols) and weather is fantastic. Getting a good deal from Thomsons as they have 4 berth cabins, am getting a child price for the 14 year old (£399), they are giving a £250'ish on line discount and I found a £150 off code (thanks to OP sloppychops;)) on the Discounts/Codes thread on a holiday of £1200+. The total hol. comes to £2,500'ish - which we think is a good price as we are used to having to pay for four adults (in hotels) now that the children are both over 12.

Fingers crossed that someone comes along that's actually done this type of cruise.

    Thanks again.
    J
