only tangentially relevant, but i just wanted to moan...
I sent out an ebay parcel to france last week, along with a late birthday pressie for my SIL. I only got proof of posting for the ebay parcel, 'cause, y'know, my SIL isn't gonna sue me or anything...
The French buyer has his item, loves it and has given me good feedback. My SIL... yeh, has yet to see her pressie. No sign.
I wouldn't mind, but it was jewellery made with me own fair hands. With love, care, time, attention, blood, sweat, tears... okay, not so much of the latter. But, y'know.

As regulars know as I've mentioned it several times, birthday gifts sent to my mother 2 years running failed to arrive. Try getting your mum to believe that one! Luckily I never trust the Royal mail so had a COP on each occasion and got the item cost back, but of course lost out money for the extras, cards from the children, small nick nacks etc, and got in a lot of trouble with mum.
