I've been looking at mrlodge for furnished rents but it can be expensive - €1000 Euros for a 2-room (1 bedroom, 1 living room) 40m2 apartment. Cheaper if going unfurnished but you literally have to buy a kitchen and all the rest. No council tax, though.0 -

You appear to be ignoring the fact that people on the Continent do not as a rule have the obsessive mania for buying property that those in the UK do. Many families rent throughout their lives – and live in flats, not houses.0 -

Agreed.. I have quite a few friends from overseas and it really isn't anything special to own a property - most people rent mainly due to better rental costs and people abroad generally travel more and do not like to 'stuck' to a location due to owning a property.
I sometimes wished that the UK had the same way of thinking.. over here are people hear is 'get onto the property ladder'... geez its after 3.. time for bed0
