German house prices

Have been looking at how much it costs to BUY in Munich and WOW - very expensive. It seems renting is well regulated and affordable (much better properties, also) but buying costs an absolute fortune. £400k for a flat, anyone? Megabucks compared to Scotland.

    Yes, I know......
I was looking into rentals there and decided to check how much buying would be, also. Better for renting, worse for buying.

I think the UK will end up the same.
Houses totally out of the reach of the average man.

It won't bother me. I own already. Pull the ladder up Jack.:rotfl:

It has always been like this, renting is the norm!
I believe my uncle built his house very many years ago - I shudder to think what it would be worth now.
Sadly I will never know, but I hope his family did well.
As far as I know most germans prefer to rent.

German house prices are only high in the big cities.

My parents bought a house in a village in Germany for 15,000 euros; my grandmother rented all her life and saved enough to buy a house outright in a minor city.

Also, house prices are much more stable AFAIK.
