Morrisons non smelly flowers

Last twice that I went to Morrisons my mother bought me lilies. I like to have flowers in the sitting room especially in the summer.

OH bought me lilies from ASDA for my birthday and they are full out now and I just took a photo. I now realise what's wrong with the lilies from Morrisons - they don't smell ! The ASDA lilies scent the entire ground floor of the house - much better than any air freshener - and have a 7 day guarantee.

I noticed that the bunches in my local Tesco Express are really sad looking but in the 24 hr Tesco nr my mother they have gorgeous flowers, even stocks.

I think that generally the bunches are getting smaller though while the price remains the same.

I don't drink or smoke, don't eat ready neals, rarely eat out as I low carb and don't drink coffee - so flowers are my vice along with DVDs and cinema visits.

Do you still buy flowers ? Have you switched to yellow-stickered ones ?
Noticed any other non smelling flowers anywhere ??

I love daffodils, but recently I bought some from Asda and they didn't open :(

It depends on what variety. Not all are scented, although all are beautiful.

I am no expert on flowers - but I just wonder if many we have for sale in supermarkets are force grown and/or picked early so they arrive unopened at the point of sale.

I suspect that is why some of the fruit we now buy is tasteless and won't ripen at home because they are picked prematurely.

I may be wrong - but that's my theory anyway.
  • I love flowers from Morrisons because they are good value and last such a long time - usually three or four weeks. I've never had lilies though, because I sneeze repeatedly and also I don't like the smell (sorry OP :o). My mum is the same.

    I only buy flowers from 2 places. M&S and a local florist/Nursery.

M&S for Lillies, bit more expensive but so fragrant, better than everywhere else I have bought from.

Any bouquets are from local Florist. Does the boxed bouquet/sprays, all exotic flowers ( had mini Bananas in one once) and always round £25 mark. Would be £40-£50 elsewhere.
