The claim gets closed within a few days however it can take quite a few weeks for the iwc. At one point in my area it was taking 10 weeks.0

Thank you! I am led to believe iwc gets backdated too. Just waiting on job grant and benfits closure now! Then I will hopefully never have to return to a jobcentre again0

What a lovely post. Congrats to you and I am so pleased that you have rejoined society.
It makes a refreshing change to hear that you have got there and see benefits as a thing of the past, hopefully never to be repeated.
Your post has reminded me of how others view things from a different perspective. In our small village the local chemist has been advertising for two positions for months. both P/T 20 hrs @ £8.00 per hour. Just across the road from the local primary school.
There have been no takers because it is under 24 hours and people on benefits will be no better off if they took either job. It's a lovely little family business. The owner told me yesterday that he just can't understand what the problem is until I enlightened him. His face was a picture!!0 -
The problem is people on benefits are tarred with the same brush
I've been applying for jobs for 18months and finally got a break! I am only doing 21 hours a week, and I will still get some help as I am a lone parent, hb,tax credits and iwc....
Not everyone on benefits wants to sit on their backsides and get paid for it! I want to set a good example for my children! It's a hard job I do but I'm proud of myself for getting back out there!0 -

Is job grant still a go-er?! My LP advisor told me it was no more, and that the £40 a week jobby would be in account within a week!!!
How long does tax credits take to sort out as well?0 -
